Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly? How to Pick a Cleaning Schedule

When clients ask how often they should book, they usually expect the answer to be about house size. It mostly isn't. A big house that two people move through quietly stays clean far longer than a small one with kids, pets, and people home all day. Frequency should follow how a home is used, not how large it is.

Biweekly is the right answer for most households, and it's what the majority of our Silver Spring, Wheaton, and Kensington clients are on. Two weeks is roughly how long a home stays genuinely level after a good clean before dust, bathroom build-up, and kitchen grease start reasserting themselves. It also keeps each visit efficient, which keeps the per-visit price down.

Weekly makes sense in four situations: young children, shedding pets, someone working from home full-time, or allergies. All four raise the rate at which dust, hair, and kitchen and bathroom use accumulate. If you find yourself doing meaningful cleaning between biweekly visits just to stay comfortable, weekly is cheaper than the version where you do half the work yourself.

Monthly suits households that keep on top of daily tidying and want a thorough reset rather than maintenance. The one caveat is that four weeks is long enough for real build-up in bathrooms and kitchens, so monthly visits need to be a bit heavier than a standard clean to stay ahead of it.

Whatever interval you pick, the sequencing is the same: a deep clean first, then recurring visits to hold the line. Starting a recurring schedule on a home that hasn't been deep cleaned means the first several visits are spent catching up on build-up instead of maintaining, which is frustrating for everyone and worse value for you.

One thing that makes recurring service genuinely better than one-off cleans, beyond the lower price: the same cleaner every visit. They learn which surfaces need which product, which room matters most to you, what to leave alone, and where your home's specific problem spots are. That knowledge compounds, and it's why a recurring visit gets more done in the same time than a first visit ever can.

We also rotate deep-clean tasks through the recurring schedule — baseboards one visit, inside the oven another, window sills and vents the next — so nothing goes a full year untouched without paying for a full deep clean every time.

The practical advice is to start biweekly and adjust after a month or two. If your home still feels good on day thirteen, try monthly. If it slips by day eight, go weekly. Call Diaz Cleaning at (240) 643-4827 and we'll set up a schedule you can change any time.
